Senior Payroll Specialist

Job Title: Payroll Senior

Salary: £35,000

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Payroll Senior to join a payroll team based in Nottingham. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with bureau or accountancy practice experience who enjoys managing a varied client portfolio and working within a fast-paced environment.

The business offers a hybrid working model following probation, with a collaborative team culture and opportunities for ongoing development.

Key Responsibilities:

Processing weekly and monthly payrolls for a varied client portfolio

Maintaining accurate employee payroll records and ensuring excellent client service

Liaising with HMRC regarding payroll queries and resolutions

Preparing year-end payroll routines and returns

Managing Auto Enrolment and statutory submissions in line with deadlines

Processing CIS returns and related submissions

Uploading payroll payments via BACS

Supporting wider payroll team activities and providing cover where required

Building strong working relationships with both clients and internal stakeholders

Keeping up to date with payroll legislation and compliance requirements

Skills & Experience Required:

Minimum of 3 years’ payroll processing experience

Previous bureau or accountancy practice payroll experience preferred

Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, RTI, statutory payments, and Auto Enrolment

Experience managing multiple payrolls and working to strict deadlines

Confident carrying out manual payroll calculations where required

Strong IT skills, including MS Office
