How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Location: Buckingham MK18

    About the Role

Are you a hands-on Design Engineer who thrives on turning complex customer requirements into smart, manufacturable solutions? SHS Handling Solutions is looking for a talented engineer to join our R&D team and act as the critical link between Sales and Manufacturing.

You'll work on a varied range of projects — from adapting existing equipment to designing fully bespoke solutions — in a fast-moving, collaborative environment where your ideas genuinely shape the product.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Design & Development

Creating equipment designs, layouts, and technical drawings to a high standard
Developing in-house solutions when off-the-shelf products can't meet the brief
Ensuring every design is practical, cost-effective, and ready to manufacture

    Sales Support & Technical Input

Collaborating with Sales to understand and shape customer requirements
Providing technical input for proposals and feasibility assessments
Helping qualify opportunities based on complexity and commercial viability

    Supplier & Manufacturing Collaboration

Engaging with external suppliers to source or adapt existing products
Working closely with manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility
Providing technical support through build and delivery stages

    R&D & Innovation

Contributing to new product development where commercially viable
Supporting continuous improvement of existing product lines
Assessing scalability and wider market potential of new solutions

    What We're Looking For

    Essential

Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Design Engineering
Strong CAD skills — SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor or similar
Proven experience designing equipment or engineered products
Ability to produce accurate technical drawings and specifications

    Desirable

Experience with bespoke or custom-built equipment
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
Experience working with suppliers and contract manufacturers

    What’s In It For You

22 days holiday plus bank holidays and a day off for your birthday
    Company pension scheme
    Quarterly company events
