How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Commercial Gas & Plant Engineer

    Location: London & South East
    Salary: Up to £49,000 pa + bonus + company vehicle + excellent benefits
    Contract Type: Permanent

    Vector Recruitment Solutions are working with a fast-growing business within the Heat Networks sector, who are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Gas & Plant Engineer to support the maintenance and operation of commercial energy centres and district heating systems.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a Commercial Gas Engineer or Plant Room Engineer looking for a varied role involving PPMs, reactive repairs, fault finding and project work across large-scale commercial plant rooms.

    The Role
    Planned and reactive maintenance on commercial plant equipment
    Fault finding and repair work on pumps, valves, heat exchangers, pressurisation units and pipework
    Attending reactive call-outs to restore heating and resolve plant failures
    Supporting plant improvement and remediation projects
    Completing maintenance reports and records
    Participating in an on-call rota (1 week in 4)Requirements
    Experience working within commercial plant rooms or mechanical plant environments
    Strong knowledge of commercial boilers and mechanical plant systems
    Experience working on pumps, valves and associated equipment
    NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Gas, Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering
    Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics
    Full UK driving licenceExperience within district heating or heat networks would be advantageous but is not essential.
