How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mill/Turn Programmer / Setter Operator

    Halifax | Full-Time | Permanent

A well-established precision engineering company based in Halifax is currently seeking an experienced Mill/Turn Programmer / Setter Operator to join its production team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled CNC machinist to work within a high-precision manufacturing environment producing quality components for a varied customer base.

The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating mill/turn machinery, working from engineering drawings to manufacture components to strict quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities

The role involves programming, setting, and operating CNC mill/turn machines while producing components from customer drawings and specifications. The successful candidate will manufacture both small batch and one-off components, machine large components within tight tolerances, and work with Fanuc, Mazak, or Siemens controls. Maintaining high standards of workshop housekeeping, complying with all HSQE procedures and company policies, and attending training courses where required will also form part of the role.

    Candidate Requirements

Applicants should ideally be apprentice-trained machinists with a strong CNC turning background and live tooling experience. Previous experience using Fanuc, Mazak, or Siemens controls is required, along with the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Candidates should be capable of working independently with minimal supervision and have experience within precision engineering environments. Strong attention to detail, good manual handling skills, and a reliable, honest, team-oriented approach are essential.

    Working Hours

The position is full-time, working 36.75 hours per week. Hours are Monday to Thursday from 8:00am to 4:50pm and Friday from 8:00am to 12:15pm.

    Overtime is available

This role would suit a motivated and experienced CNC professional looking to join a stable and supportive engineering business with a strong reputation for quality and precision manufacturing
