How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Managing and mentoring engineers and technicians within the team
Developing new client relationships and identifying opportunities for business growth
Preparing fee proposals and supporting tender submissions
Acting as a key client contact and representing the business at meetings and networking events
Reviewing and approving structural calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and quality procedures
Collaborating with architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams across a range of sectors

    Candidate Requirements

Degree qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering
Chartered status with ICE or IStructE
Significant consultancy experience within structural engineering
Proven experience delivering building and infrastructure projects
Strong commercial awareness and client-facing experience
Experience leading teams and managing project delivery
Proficiency in structural design software such as Tekla and Tedds
Strong understanding of Eurocodes, British Standards, and UK Building Regulations

    The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected consultancy during a period of strategic growth. The role offers genuine scope to influence the direction of the Cambridge office, develop a team, and progress within a supportive and collaborative environment.

A highly competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package is available, including:

    Enhanced pension contributions
    Flexible and hybrid working arrangements

    Long-term career progression opportunities
