How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Calibration Laboratory Technician (UV-VIS Spectroscopy)

    Annual Salary: £24,500 - £27,000
    Location: Ilford, UK
    Job Type: Full-time, Mon-FriJoin a leading scientific company as a Calibration Laboratory Technician specialising in spectroscopy, particularly UV-VIS, and analytical chemistry. This pivotal role involves the preparation and certification of Certified Reference Materials (CRMs), enhancing the accuracy and reliability of laboratory standards globally. You will work within ISO 17025 and ISO 17034 accredited frameworks under the guidance of the Calibration Laboratory Manager.

    Day-to-day of the role:

    Prepare and certify Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) to meet international standards.
    Utilise advanced UV-VIS spectroscopy techniques and analytical chemistry expertise in daily operations.
    Collaborate with the Calibration Laboratory Manager and team to meet departmental goals.
    Manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively in a busy laboratory environment.
    Maintain accurate job cards and documentation, support audit activities, and keep rigorous records.
    Support team members and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing work culture.Required Skills & Qualifications:

    BSc in Chemistry, Analytical Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional qualification in laboratory sciences.
    Strong experience or knowledge in spectroscopy, particularly UV-VIS, and skilled in calibration measurements, with meticulous attention to detail.
    Ability to manage time effectively and adapt to shifting priorities.
    Team-oriented with a proactive and flexible approach.
