How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Site Engineer

    North East - commutable from Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham, Darlington, Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Hartlepool, Gateshead, Washington, Northallerton

    £45,000 - £55,000 + Car / Car Allowance + Benefits + Training + Progression

    Full-time / Permanent

    Are you a Site Engineer or Setting Out Engineer with experience across highways, public realm, drainage or wider civil engineering schemes?

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing civil engineering contractor delivering local infrastructure projects across the North East. With continued investment in roads, public realm, active travel and local authority improvement schemes, the business is building a strong team to support long-term delivery.

    You will support Site Agents and Site Managers across a range of civils projects, taking responsibility for setting out, levels, QA, as-builts, ITPs, drainage, kerbs, ducting, surfacing and general site engineering duties. The work will be varied, covering highways, public realm, junction improvements, cycleways, footways and associated infrastructure.

    The company can provide training on tickets where needed, making this a strong opportunity for an engineer with the right technical background who wants a stable permanent role with progression.

    This role would suit a Site Engineer or Setting Out Engineer with strong civils experience, looking to develop further within highways, public realm and local infrastructure delivery.

    The Role

    * Carry out setting out and site engineering duties across highways, public realm and local civils projects
    * Support delivery of drainage, kerbing, ducting, surfacing, footways, cycleways and junction improvement works
    * Produce and maintain QA records, ITPs, as-builts, site records and technical documentation
    * Work closely with Site Agents, Site Managers, subcontractors and client teams
    * Support delivery of projects across the North East

    The Person

    * Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer with civils experience
    * Background in highways, public realm, drainage, groundworks, roads, sewers or infrastructure
    * Confident with setting out, levels, drawings, QA, ITPs and as-built records
    * CAT & Genny, EUSR, First Aid, SEATS or SMSTS beneficial, but training can be provided
    * Based within reach of North East sites and happy to travel as required
