How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Governance Executive – Committees & Projects
Central London, SW1 (with hybrid working)

    The Role

IMechE is looking for a Governance Executive to strengthen the delivery of effective governance across the Institution.

In this exciting role, you will be involved in supporting our IMechE Boards and Committees and championing best-practice governance.

Your primary focus will be the provision of high-quality support to IMechE’s Boards and Committees. You will also be assisting the Governance Manager with the Annual Meeting and Annual Elections processes. You will also be handling questions raised by members. This will afford a great opportunity to see at first hand and learn about the workings of the Institution.

Other secondary responsibilities of the role may occasionally include assisting with policy development and implementation, and maintaining the central policy library and contracts log.

    About You

To be considered as a Governance Executive, you will need to have a well-rounded knowledge of governance, which should include experience of:

    - Working in a governance role, and the provision of high-quality support to boards and committees (e.g. planning agendas, running meetings, monitoring and progressing actions, and producing succinct and accurate minutes)
    - Establishing good working relationships with senior stakeholders
    - The ability to interpret and apply regulations, rules and procedural frameworks
    - The ability to handle multiple meetings/projects with tight (and competing) deadlines
    - Excellent written and oral communication skills
    - Outstanding organisational, time management and prioritisation skills
    - Excellent IT skills
    - Experience of working for a Charity or Membership organisation would be desirable

    The Benefits

    - Salary of circa £34,000 per annum, depending on experience
    - 26 days’ holiday per annum plus bank holidays
    - An extra day off for your birthday
    - Benefits, including stakeholder pension scheme, life assurance and private health cover
    - Continuous training and career development
    - A range of wellbeing benefits to encourage a healthy work-life balance

You will be joining a team in which your work will be varied, visible and genuinely valued, allowing you the chance to build on your governance expertise and grow your career.

The position offers hybrid working, with a minimum attendance of two days per week in the office. Plus, you will have access to professional development and a strong all-round package designed to support your wellbeing and work-life balance.

The closing date for this role is 31 May 2026. Due to this recruitment being time sensitive, applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the vacancy may close early if sufficient applications are received. We are hoping to hold interviews in the latter part of the week commencing 1 June 2026.
