How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Role Description

    This is a part-time on-site role in Kendal for a Domestic Abuse Refuge Worker. The role involves supporting individuals in crisis by providing a safe and comfortable environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting residents with their needs, conducting risk and needs assessments, developing individualized support plans, maintaining records, and helping facilitate access to external support services. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the smooth operation of the refuge and advocating for residents when required.

    Qualifications

    • Experience or skills in providing support in sensitive and potentially high-pressure situations
    • Ability to conduct thorough assessments, prepare support plans, and maintain detailed records
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working one-on-one with residents and external organizations
    • Knowledge of domestic abuse issues, safeguarding practices, and relevant legal frameworks
    • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
    • Experience in confidentiality and ethical responsibility
    • Proficiency in administrative tasks and basic computer skills
    • Advocacy skills and the ability to connect clients with external resources
    • Relevant education or qualifications in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field are an advantage
