How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Design Engineer - Subsea Tooling

    Location: Aberdeen
    Salary: Up to 55k

    The Role

    We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team in the Aberdeen area. This role will focus on the design and development of subsea cutting tooling, supporting a range of offshore projects.

    You will play a key part in delivering innovative, robust, and reliable tooling solutions for challenging subsea environments, working from concept through to manufacture and deployment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Design and develop subsea cutting tools and mechanical systems
    Produce detailed engineering drawings and models using CAD (SolidWorks desirable)
    Conduct design calculations, tolerance analysis, and material selection
    Support prototyping, testing, and validation of designs
    Work closely with manufacturing, project, and offshore teams
    Ensure designs meet industry standards and client specifications
    Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering function

    About You

    Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
    Experience in mechanical design, ideally within subsea, offshore, or oil & gas sectors
    Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks experience desirable)
    Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
    Experience designing for harsh or subsea environments is advantageous
    Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
