How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Engineering Geologist

    📍 Edinburgh
    💰 Up to £45,000 + Excellent Benefits Package

    An established multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking a Senior Engineering Geologist to join its expanding Edinburgh team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced ground investigation professional to work on a broad range of high-profile projects across the infrastructure, construction, energy, and development sectors.

    The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering technically complex geotechnical and geo-environmental projects while supporting the growth of a busy and collaborative ground engineering division.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Planning and supervising ground investigation works

    * Logging soil and rock samples in accordance with current standards

    * Managing subcontractors and site operations

    * Preparing factual and interpretative geotechnical reports

    * Carrying out geo-environmental and contaminated land assessments

    * Reviewing ground investigation data and providing technical input

    * Supporting and mentoring junior team members

    * Building strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders

    Requirements

    * Degree qualified in Engineering Geology, Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline

    * Previous consultancy experience within ground investigation or geotechnical engineering

    * Strong technical reporting and data interpretation skills

    * Experience managing site investigations and fieldwork programmes

    * Good understanding of relevant UK standards and guidance

    * Full UK driving licence
