How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary: £26,000 base + uncapped commission

    Start Date: July or October 2026

    At Harnham, we hire graduates into our Academy programme and train them to become successful Recruitment Consultants within specialist Data & AI markets. Recruitment is often compared to sales because progression and earnings are linked to performance, but unlike many traditional sales roles, success comes from building relationships, understanding markets, influencing decisions, and creating long-term partnerships.


    What does the role actually involve?


    You’ll begin your career in a candidate-focused recruitment role, learning the foundations of recruitment before progressing into client-facing responsibilities.


    During your early months, you’ll learn how to:


    • Build relationships with candidates and understand motivations
    • Source talent within specialist markets
    • Conduct screening conversations and interviews
    • Manage recruitment processes from application through to offer
    • Understand how hiring decisions are made
    • Develop confidence communicating with professionals at different levels


    As you progress through the Academy, you may move into Business Development training, learning how to win clients, build partnerships, and manage your own recruitment desk.

    Over time, this develops into a full 360 Recruitment Consultant role involving both candidates and clients.
