How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

About the role: Client Services Associate

Are you an LPC or SQE-qualified aspiring lawyer looking to fast-track your commercial experience and build a CV that stands out? This is a rare opportunity to get under the bonnet of a dynamic, purpose-driven legal business — gaining real exposure to clients, contracts, and commercial operations from day one, in a role that will genuinely accelerate your legal career.

As a member of the Client Services team, you will receive commercial exposure to all aspects of the business and expert working across our client services, legal, operations, and finance teams. You’ll manage real client engagements, draft and review commercial contracts, and work directly alongside experienced City-trained lawyers — all while building the commercial judgement and professional networks that will set you apart when you enter practice.

We are committed to investing in your development. You will receive structured training, mentoring from senior legal professionals, and the kind of broad commercial exposure that is hard to find elsewhere — leaving you better prepared for your legal career than most of your peers.

You will own and be accountable for the following key duties/activities:

Delivering an effective engagement strategy for consultants

    • Assisting with the review and suitability of new Obelisk consultant applications
    • First point of contact for newly onboarded consultants to ensure they are work-ready, that CVs and Obelisk Profile are up to date and that they are briefed on OS processes and support.
    • Assisting with day-to-day contact with consultants, ensuring systems are updated with communications.
    • Helping to ensure that consultants comply with Obelisk practices such as timesheet completion, invoicing etc.
    • Helping to create weekly marketing content to advertise available job applications and news/articles to consultants

Matching and finalising jobs and overseeing to completion

    • Working closely with the Client Team when a new job is created to understand client requirements and criteria for matching.
    • Matching consultants to new roles, preparing proposals to clients, arranging interviews , briefing consultants ahead of interviews and collecting post-interview feedback
    • Working with the Legal Team to complete contractual steps such as drafting and reviewing MSAs, ADFs, and umbrella schedules.
    • Answering client and consultant queries and ensure consultants are onboarded to jobs in a timely manner.
    • Managing in role consultants and client relationships through various tasks such as regular check ins, assignment extensions, timesheet reminders etc.
    • Liaising with the Finance Team to ensure consultant timesheet and invoices are submitted promptly and accurately.

    Looking after Obelisk consultants

    • Managing day to day contact with consultants, ensuring systems are updated with communications.
    • Ensuring that reference and vetting checks have been completed and profile is up to date and CV uploaded.
    • Maintaining mailing lists for in-role and on-boarded consultants.
    • Monitoring the pool of consultants to ensure that work histories and CVs are up to date, non-active consultants are archived, in compliance with GDPR requirements.
    • Organising and participating in consultant events.

    Legal support work

    • Support the COO/ Legal Counsel to manage contractual onboarding of clients and consultants and contractual arrangements for each assignment.
    • Manage contract tracker database with details of contracts and bespoke clauses.
    • Coordinate requests for AWR (Agency Worker Regulations) information.

    What are we looking for?

    • Aspiring lawyer having completed the LPC or SQE.
    • Excellent relationship-building skills – you are energised by working with people and take genuine pride in the experience you create for them.
    • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Knowledge of, or a strong interest in, the legal profession.
    • A collaborative, proactive approach and a growth mindset.
    • A minimum 12-month full-time commitment.

    What can we offer you?

Competitive salary and pension; 28 days’ holiday, two extra ‘personal’ days off as well as your birthday; private medical insurance, life assurance, income protection and critical illness cover.

For this role, it is essential that you have the right to work in the UK. We are a remote first organisation with the team all meeting in London every two months.
