How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

The M&A team plays a pivotal role in advising clients on strategic transactions including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and corporate advisory mandates, offering high‑touch service, differentiated sector expertise, and strong execution.

    The Opportunity

Jefferies’ London‑based M&A team is seeking Associate level candidates, who want to leverage their technical training in a dynamic and high‑deal‑flow environment. The team is known for leading end‑to‑end execution across sponsor‑backed buy‑side and sell‑side mandates, managing complex processes, and working closely with senior bankers and clients.

    Key Responsibilities

    Deal Execution

    • Support and assist with leading the execution of M&A transactions from initial pitch through to closing.
    • Manage workstreams across valuation, modelling, marketing materials, due diligence, and process coordination.
    • Prepare transaction documentation including teasers, CIMs, management presentations, and board materials.

    Financial Analysis & Modelling

    • Build and review detailed financial models to evaluate transactions, run valuation scenarios, and assess financial impact.
    • Apply ACA-honed analytical skills to interpret complex financial data and produce actionable insights.

    Industry & Market Research

    • Conduct market, sector, and company research to identify potential targets, understand trends, and support strategic recommendations.

    Client Interaction & Communication

    • Interact with clients to gather information, understand strategic objectives, and support negotiations.
    • Prepare and deliver clear, compelling client presentations summarizing opportunities, valuation work, and recommendations.

    Cross‑Functional Collaboration

    • Work closely with internal teams (legal, compliance, product groups) and external stakeholders (lawyers, accountants, advisors) to ensure seamless execution.

    Analyst / Associate level requirements

    • Strong financial modelling skills and advanced analytical capability.
    • Experience in M&A (at least 3+ years).
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and client‑facing skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure deal environment.
    • High attention to detail, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to think critically.

    Why Join our M&A Team?

    • Hands‑on deal experience: Associates work directly with senior bankers on high‑complexity, cross‑border transactions.
    • Lean team structure: Meaningful responsibility from day one, with exposure to both strategic thinking and granular execution.
    • High deal flow: London M&A handles consistent sponsor‑driven buy‑side and sell‑side mandates and is known for strong technical training.
    • Career progression: Exceptional exit opportunities into mid‑market and upper‑mid‑market private equity and corporate development roles.
    • Best‑in‑class platform: Access to Jefferies’ global resources, industry experts, and world‑class execution capabilities.

Jefferies is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive workplace. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are dedicated to ensuring a professional work environment free from discrimination and bias.
