How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Electrical Project Engineer
    Location Ipswich
    Salary £60,000 pa + Bonus
    Reports To Electrical Engineering Manager

    Role Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Project Engineer to lead and deliver electrical engineering projects from concept through to completion. You will be responsible for supporting the design, installation, commissioning, and handover of electrical systems and upgrades, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high technical and safety standards. These projects vary from a wide range of large complex heavy industrial settings but you will join a team of experienced and well qualified experts.
    This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, project management capability, and stakeholder coordination within a manufacturing / industrial environment.

    The Senior Electrical Project Engineer will be responsible for managing work flow and scheduling across the team, looking at programmes and allocating resource accordingly for different jobs/projects across a team of 8/12 Electrical Engineers. Department planning is vital to delivery and having good project management, operations and people skills is essential. You will need to pipeline work, forecast and anticipate work flow, schedule and assign projects according to technical specialities and strengths and work reactively to realign resource when on assignment in the event of critical needs. Being able to prioritise and manage team effectively across work streams will be key.

    Key Responsibilities Project Delivery
    Support electrical projects from initial concept, design, and planning through to implementation and handover
    Define project scope, timelines, budgets, and resource requirements
    Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
    Diplomatically manage team and resources according to need
    Be client/customer facing and communicate issues/concerns clearly resolving conflicts and remaining accountable keeping all stakeholders internal and external informed of project progress.Electrical Engineering
    Support design and specify electrical systems including power distribution, control panels, and automation systems
    Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment
    Provide technical support on PLCs, drives, motors, and instrumentation
    Review and approve electrical drawings, schematics, and documentationContractor & Stakeholder Management
    Support and manage external contractors and suppliers, ensuring quality and compliance
    Liaise with internal teams including production, maintenance, and HSE
    Ensure clear communication of project progress and key milestonesCompliance & Safety
    Ensure all work complies with relevant regulations (e.g., BS7671, IEC standards)
    Promote and enforce health & safety standards on all projects
    Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe systems of workContinuous Improvement
    Identify opportunities to improve plant efficiency, reliability, and energy usage
    Support automation and upgrade projects to enhance operational performance
    Contribute to long-term engineering and capital investment plansSkills & Experience Essential
    Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
    C&G Level 3 Electrical Inspection BS7671 (18th Edition)
    C&G Level 3 (2391-01) Inspection & Testing of Electrical installations
    Proven experience in delivering electrical engineering projects in an industrial or manufacturing environment
    Strong knowledge of:
    Electrical distribution and control systems
    PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen Bradley)
    Motors, drives, and automation systems
    Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation
    Strong project management and organisational skillsDesirable

    Experience with SCADA systems
    Knowledge of functional safety systems
    Experience working with capital projects (CAPEX)
    Project management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP)Key Competencies
