How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer to join a well-established in-house legal team supporting a large and purpose-driven organisation.

The legal team plays a central role in enabling the business to operate efficiently, manage risk effectively and deliver on its strategic priorities. As Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide practical, solutions-focused legal advice across a broad range of commercial matters, while partnering closely with senior stakeholders across Technology, Marketing, Fundraising and other corporate functions.

The role offers a varied workload, significant stakeholder exposure and the chance to lead on high-value and strategically important projects.

    Contract Type: 12-month fixed-term contract

Location: London (hybrid working with 1–2 days per week in the office)

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide clear, pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice across a wide range of business and operational matters.
    • Act as a trusted legal adviser to key functions, with a particular focus on:
    • Technology – advising on supplier contracts, software and digital projects.
    • Marketing, Fundraising and Partnerships – advising on commercial partnerships and related agreements.
    • Draft, review and negotiate a variety of complex commercial contracts.
    • Lead and manage legal matters independently, identifying risk and escalating issues where appropriate.
    • Support stakeholders with contract management, regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
    • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and gain a detailed understanding of business priorities.
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the legal team to share knowledge and strengthen team capability.
    • Assist with legal process improvements, template development and wider legal strategy initiatives.
    • Manage external counsel where specialist advice is required.

    Candidate Requirements

    • Qualified solicitor or barrister in England & Wales (or equivalent jurisdiction).
    • Significant experience in commercial and contract law, gained in private practice and/or in-house.
    • Strong drafting and negotiation skills across a range of complex commercial agreements.
    • Good working knowledge of data protection law and general regulatory compliance issues.
    • Experience supporting technology, procurement, marketing or partnership teams is highly desirable.
    • Proven ability to manage a busy and varied workload with minimal supervision.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound commercial judgment.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience advising senior leadership.
    • Highly organised and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
