How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The International Risk Podcast is the world's leading podcast exploring international relations, geopolitics, human rights, business risks and opportunities, crisis management, humanitarian topics, and enterprise risk management. The successful internship program has been running for five years and had several cohorts of interns supporting the research and production of this hugely successful podcast.

This unpaid internship is designed to give interns the experience to work on globally important issues relevant to everyone. At the start of the internship we will define your objectives and explore what a successful internship will be for you.

The International Risk Podcast is a not-for-profit initiative and this internship is unpaid. You need to be available for regular meetings and engagement with the team based in Europe. If you are interested in improving your researching skills, building an impressive network of leading academics, policy advisors, and subject matter experts, as well as learning how to produce world-class podcasts, and engaging with experts around the world on a variety of contemporary topics, then apply now.

    Responsibilities

You will learn the following tasks and then be responsible for completion:

    • Researching important global trends (think: protests in Iran, geopolitical developments, transnational crime, climate change, and politics).
    • Use your research to identify fantastic guests to come on The International Risk Podcast each week.
    • Produce at least one article each week on a global trend that is related to a recent podcast interview and post this on The International Risk Podcast website.
    • Turn the interview into a high-quality podcast production using Audacity software.

    Qualifications

    • Currently completing a university degree, or recently completed a university degree, in international relations, international law, human rights, economics, or other related field.
    • Fluent in English language.
    • Confident to engage a wide variety of stakeholders.
    • Confident to conduct research.
    • Willing to learn new skills.
    • Able to commit between 30 and 40 hours each week to the internship.

If you are interested in this exciting opportunity, please apply now. Please note this is an unpaid internship, designed to give university students real-life work skills necessary for successful entry into their chosen career.
