How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Chairman of Anesthesia

    Location: Saudi Arabia

    Department: Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine

    Role Overview

    A leading healthcare and academic institution in KSA, internationally recognized for excellence in patient care, medical education, and research, is seeking a highly accomplished Chairman of Anesthesia. This executive leadership role will provide strategic, clinical, and academic direction for the Department of Anesthesiology, overseeing perioperative services, critical care collaboration, patient safety initiatives, education, and research programs.

    The Chairman will lead a multidisciplinary team of consultants, specialists, fellows, residents, nursing, and allied health professionals while driving innovation, operational excellence, and world-class perioperative care standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Define and execute the strategic vision, goals, policies, and operational plans for the Department of Anesthesiology.
    • Lead and oversee all anesthesia services including:
    • General anesthesia
    • Cardiothoracic anesthesia
    • Neuroanesthesia
    • Pediatric anesthesia
    • Obstetric anesthesia
    • Regional anesthesia
    • Critical care collaboration
    • Pain medicine services
    • Ensure excellence in perioperative patient care, quality assurance, patient safety, and accreditation compliance.
    • Direct departmental budgeting, workforce planning, and resource utilization to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.
    • Build, mentor, and retain high-performing multidisciplinary teams and future clinical leaders.
    • Oversee recruitment, credentialing, privileging, and professional development of anesthesia staff.
    • Promote academic excellence through teaching, fellowship programs, simulation training, and research initiatives.
    • Develop strategic partnerships with hospital leadership, surgical departments, academic institutions, and international collaborators.
    • Lead quality improvement, innovation, and digital transformation initiatives within perioperative medicine.
    • Support research activities, publications, and participation in regional and international scientific conferences.

    Specific Requirements

    Educational Qualifications

    • CCT,CCST,CESR, American Board, or Equivalent Speciality Training Certification
    • Completion of accredited residency training in Anesthesiology.
    • Fellowship training in a recognized subspecialty preferred:
    • Cardiothoracic anesthesia
    • Critical care
    • Pain medicine
    • Pediatric anesthesia
    • Neuroanesthesia
    • Board Certification required:
    • American Board
    • Canadian Board
    • FRCA
    • Additional leadership or healthcare management qualifications are an advantage.

    Professional Experience

    • Minimum 7 years of progressive consultant-level experience in anesthesiology.
    • Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role such as:
    • Chairman
    • Vice Chairman
    • Division Chief
    • Clinical Director
    • Program Director
    • Proven experience managing large anesthesia departments within tertiary or academic medical centers.
    • Strong background in perioperative governance, clinical operations, workforce management, and patient safety.
    • Demonstrated success in leading multidisciplinary teams and organizational transformation initiatives.
    • Experience in academic medicine, residency/fellowship training, and research activities preferred.

    Technical & Clinical Expertise

    • Advanced expertise in perioperative medicine and complex anesthesia care.
    • Strong understanding of:
    • ERAS pathways
    • OR efficiency and utilization
    • Quality metrics
    • Accreditation standards
    • Patient safety frameworks
    • Experience implementing evidence-based anesthesia protocols and digital perioperative systems.
    • Familiarity with anesthesia information management systems and healthcare technologies.

    Leadership Competencies

    • Executive-level leadership and decision-making capabilities.
    • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and conflict resolution skills.
    • Strategic planning and organizational development expertise.
    • Commitment to excellence in patient care, education, and innovation.
    • Ability to foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
