Location: Northampton  

Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour

Position Type: Temporary to Permanent  

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 07:30 – 18:00 (Overtime available at weekends)

Job Purpose:

As a Yard Operative, you will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of the production factory and yard. You will be responsible for managing incoming raw materials, organising the yard layout, and ensuring that heavy, high-value stone goods are handled safely and efficiently to keep production moving smoothly.

Key Responsibilities:

Material Handling: Unloading deliveries of heavy natural stone, ceramic slabs, ensuring they are safely moved and stacked in designated areas.
Yard Maintenance: Ensuring the yard is kept clean, tidy, and organised in accordance with health and safety regulations to maintain an efficient workflow.
Stock Management: Assisting with stock checks, identifying materials for the production team, and staging materials ready for fabrication.
Health & Safety: Adhering strictly to safe lifting techniques and standard operating procedures due to the heavy and fragile nature of the materials.
Team Support: Working closely with the factory supervisors and delivery drivers to ensure smooth turnaround times for vehicles entering and leaving the yard.The Ideal Candidate:

Physical Fitness: This is a highly physical role involving frequent heavy lifting. You must be comfortable with demanding manual labour and handling heavy products safely.
Can-Do Attitude: A positive, proactive approach to work. You are someone who takes initiative, spots what needs to be done, and works well under pressure.
Reliability: Due to the busy 07:30 – 18:00 shift pattern, punctuality and excellent attendance are essential.
Environment: Comfortable working outdoors in a busy yard environment, across all weather conditions.
Experience (Desirable): Previous experience working in a yard, manufacturing facility, builders' merchants, or stone/masonry environment is a distinct advantage, though full training on specific material handling will be provided.Benefits & Rewards:
