SEN Learning Support Assistant (Epilepsy Specialist)

Pay: £14.74 per hour (PAYE) | £20 per hour (Self-employed option)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant with specific expertise in supporting students with epilepsy and associated behavioural needs.
This is a rewarding 1:1 role supporting a Year 8 student, requiring a calm, proactive, and highly attentive individual who can ensure safety, stability, and positive engagement throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent 1:1 support to a Year 8 student with epilepsy
- Ensure the student’s safety, wellbeing, and dignity at all times
- Proactively monitor for and respond to epileptic episodes or early warning signs
- Support with behavioural needs, implementing agreed strategies and behaviour plans
- Work closely with the SENCO, teaching staff, parents, and medical professionals
- Maintain a structured, calm, and supportive learning environment
- Assist with promoting positive engagement, learning progress, and independence
- Participate in ongoing training and safeguarding development
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant
- Strong understanding of epilepsy awareness and management strategies
- Experience supporting students with complex or challenging behavioural needs
- Ability to remain calm, responsive, and professional under pressure
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and student development
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work closely within a multi-disciplinary support team
- Willingness to follow tailored support and care plans
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
