We are recruiting for a Construction Skills Teacher (Plastering / Joinery) to join a specialist education provider delivering hands-on vocational learning within a supportive SEND / Alternative Provision setting.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced construction tutor, FE lecturer, assessor, trainer, or skilled tradesperson looking to transition into education and make a real difference to young peopleβs lives.
The Role
You will deliver engaging and practical construction skills training, helping learners develop:
β Plastering / joinery / multi-skills knowledge
β Employability and workplace behaviours
β Confidence and independence
β Safe workshop habits and practical trade skills
Youβll be teaching students with SEND, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and learners who may have experienced school avoidance or low confidence.
Key Responsibilities
πΉ Plan and deliver practical plastering/joinery sessions
πΉ Teach Level 1 / introductory construction skills
πΉ Adapt lessons to meet diverse learner needs
πΉ Maintain workshop safety, PPE and risk controls
πΉ Monitor learner progress and engagement
πΉ Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding and curriculum teams
About You
β Background in plastering, joinery, carpentry, or construction multi-skills
β Experience in teaching, tutoring, assessing, mentoring or coaching desirable
β Qualifications such as AET, PTLLS, DTLLS, PGCE or QTLS are helpful but not essential
β Strong communication, patience and behaviour management skills
β Passion for supporting young people in specialist education
β Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
