How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The role supports the design, development, and production of advanced electronic components and custom assemblies used in global manufacturing operations. You will work within a small engineering team, taking responsibility for both mechanical design and the introduction of new products into production.

This position plays a key part in ensuring projects progress effectively, working closely with project management, manufacturing, and engineering teams to meet delivery targets.

The role also involves technical communication with customers and collaboration with international sites, so flexibility in working hours and occasional travel is required.

    Key Responsibilities

Lead a small team of design and manufacturing engineers within the NPI function
Oversee NPI assembly processes for custom electronic and mechanical components
Design mechanical components, jigs, fixtures, and tooling to support manufacture
    Support mechanical/electrical integration of assemblies
Work closely with project managers to ensure milestones and delivery targets are met
Provide technical updates and support to internal and external customers
Participate in new product and process development from concept through to production transfer
Support failure analysis and root cause investigations
Assist with drawing control, documentation, and engineering change processes
Contribute to costing and preparation of product quotations
Undertake additional duties as reasonably required by the business

    Requirements

Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronic Engineering
Strong hands-on engineering background with small component or precision assembly experience
Experience in fabrication, assembly processes, and soldering techniques (desirable)
Background in NPI, production engineering, or manufacturing engineering environments
CAD proficiency (AutoCAD essential; SolidWorks or Fusion 360 advantageous)
Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality
Strong communication skills, including technical writing and reporting
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Collaborative, self-motivated, and willing to learn new skills
Experience with coding or automation tools is an advantage

    Benefits

    Salary: £50,000 - £58,000
25 days annual leave plus UK public holidays
Additional holiday entitlement after 5 and 10 years' service
Holiday carry-over (up to 5 days)
    Pension scheme (subject to eligibility)
Private healthcare scheme (subject to approval)
Discretionary company sick pay (top-up to SSP)
Flexible overtime policy (at management discretion)
    Company social events
Standard employment policies including health & safety, grievance, and disciplinary procedures
