How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Design Assistant

    Cambridge / Royston

    £27,500-£30,000 + Full Training + Progression + Holiday + Pension + Bonus

    Are you highly organised, motivated, and looking to start a career in design within the renewable energy sector?

    Do you want full training, clear progression, and the opportunity to develop technical skills in a fast-growing business?

    My client is a rapidly expanding renewable energy contractor specialising in large-scale commercial heat pumps and ground-mounted solar projects. With a strong reputation for quality delivery and a team of around 20, they are continuing to grow and are now looking for a Design Assistant to support their technical and design function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is keen to learn and develop within a supportive environment.

    No previous design experience is required, as full on-the-job training will be provided. The role will initially focus on report writing and document preparation, so strong Microsoft Office skills are essential. Any exposure to BIM, CAD or AutoCAD would be highly advantageous, but not essential. This is a role for someone who is organised, detail-focused, and eager to build a long-term career in design and renewable energy.

    The ideal candidate will be local to Cambridge or Royston, hardworking, and motivated to develop new skills. You will be supported from day one and given the opportunity to progress into more technical design responsibilities over time.

    The Role

    Support the design team with document preparation and technical administration
    Produce reports and documentation using Microsoft Office
    Assist with basic design coordination tasks across projects
    Work closely with engineers and project teams
    Develop technical understanding of heat pump and renewable systems through trainingThe Person
