How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Mechanical Estimator / Future Pre-Construction Manager

    📍 Hybrid Working – London
    💰 £80,000 - £90,000 + Bonus + Package

    An established and growing M&E Contractor is looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Estimator who is looking to take the next step into a Pre-Construction Manager position.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious individual who wants to move beyond traditional estimating and become heavily involved in the full pre-construction lifecycle, helping shape projects from tender stage through to delivery.

    The business operates across high-end commercial fit out, refurbishment, and mixed-use projects throughout London and the South East, with project values ranging from £1m - £20m M&E.

    The Role

    You will initially lead mechanical estimating activities while gradually taking on broader pre-construction responsibilities including client engagement, design coordination, value engineering, programme input, and managing tender strategy.

    Working closely with Directors and the wider operational team, you will play a key role in securing and shaping future projects for the business.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Preparing detailed mechanical estimates and tender submissions

    * Reviewing specifications, drawings, and technical documents

    * Managing tender processes from enquiry through to submission

    * Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations

    * Supporting value engineering and cost-saving solutions

    * Attending client meetings and contributing to pre-construction strategy

    * Working alongside design and operational teams during bid stages

    * Assisting with programme development and project planning

    * Supporting the transition from estimating into full pre-construction management

    Requirements

    * Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the M&E sector

    * Strong knowledge of commercial fit out and building services projects

    * Ambition to progress into a Pre-Construction Manager role

    * Excellent commercial awareness and technical understanding

    * Strong communication and client-facing skills

    * Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously

    * Experience working with Tier 1 or leading M&E contractors is advantageous
