Principal Structural Engineer

ALink Recruitment are working with a well-established engineering consultancy looking to appoint a Principal Structural Engineer to join their growing team.

This is a senior-level position suited to someone who is confident leading projects independently, managing their own workload, and providing technical expertise with minimal supervision.

The business primarily delivers commercial sector projects, alongside some larger-scale residential schemes (non-domestic), typically with project values around £10m. They are specifically looking for someone with experience working on similar-sized projects.

The Role

* Lead structural engineering projects from concept through to delivery

* Work autonomously with limited day-to-day direction

* Liaise directly with clients, contractors, and design teams

* Deliver technical design and project coordination across a range of commercial and residential developments

* Support and mentor junior engineers where required

* Ensure projects are delivered to programme and technical standards

Requirements

* Strong experience operating at Senior or Principal Structural Engineer level

* Experience working on commercial projects and multi-unit residential schemes

* Comfortable managing projects independently

* Chartered status is highly desirable, ideally through the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE)
