How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Company:
    Contek Recruitment Solutions are collaborating with our client who are a family-owned road marking company based in Thatcham, Berkshire who have been a cornerstone of the industry since 1952. As one of the largest line marking companies in the UK, it continues to set industry standards and innovate with a fleet of over 100 vehicles. The company offers a competitive salary range of £45,200 - £55,000 per year, along with a comprehensive benefits package including annual leave, sick pay, free parking, additional leave, and a company pension.

    Key Responsibilities:
    - Conduct day-to-day repairs and preventative maintenance of HGVs and light vans, including MOT prep, PMIs, servicing, and defect repairs.
    - Maintain and repair specialist road marking machines and plant.
    - Provide on-call breakdown cover with a van provided, on a rota of 1 week in 4.
    - Visit satellite depots to carry out repairs and maintenance.
    - Ensure a safe and healthy working environment for yourself and colleagues.

    Skills, Experience, and Education:
    Communication:
    - Good communication skills are essential for effective teamwork and problem-solving.

    Knowledge/Expertise:
    - At least 5 years of relevant experience in commercial and plant fitting, or an NVQ level 3 qualification (or equivalent) or higher.
    - Mechanical knowledge of commercial vehicles is crucial.

    Innovation:
    - Willingness to undertake additional training as required.
    - Ability to use initiative and remain calm under pressure.
