How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Starting from £31,000 per annum | Preston, Lancashire | 2 Days On / 4 Days Off

Are you ready to make a real difference in a child's life — every single day?

Springboard Care Services is growing across Preston and the North West, and we're looking for warm, resilient, and committed Residential Support Workers to join our homes. This is more than a job. It's a career with purpose — with real opportunities to progress as we expand.

    About Springboard Care Services

We are a dedicated and expanding provider of residential care and support to children and young people across Preston and the wider North West. Our mission is simple: to create safe, nurturing homes where young people can thrive through personalised care, education, and emotional support.

Our leadership team brings decades of experience across care and education. Springboard is built on quality, compassion, and ambition — and as we grow, we are developing the next generation of care professionals from within.

If you want to work somewhere your contribution is visible, your wellbeing matters, and your career can grow — this is where you belong.

As a Residential Support Worker, you will be at the heart of what we do. You’ll work directly with children and young people, providing consistent, compassionate support that helps them feel safe and valued.

You’ll be part of a close-knit team, supported by experienced Team Leaders and managers invested in your development. No two days are the same — and every day you make a difference.

    Key Responsibilities

    Care & Day-to-Day Support

    • Provide day-to-day care, supervision, and emotional support in a residential setting
    • Build positive, trusting relationships that provide stability
    • Act as a positive role model
    • Support independence and life skills development
    • Assist with meals, household tasks, and personal care where required
    • Encourage participation in education, activities, and community life
    • Attend appointments, outings, and activities with young people

    Safeguarding & Child Protection

    • Safeguard and promote welfare at all times
    • Follow safeguarding and child protection procedures
    • Report concerns promptly to your line manager
    • Maintain professional boundaries

    Behaviour & Emotional Support

    • Support children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
    • Implement care and behaviour plans consistently
    • Manage challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques
    • Complete incident reports and daily logs accurately

    Teamwork & Development

    • Attend handovers, team meetings, and supervision
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues and professionals
    • Complete mandatory training and engage in development
    • Contribute to care planning and reviews

    What We’re Looking For
    Essential

    • Experience working with children, young people, or in a care setting
    • Understanding of safeguarding principles
    • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
    • Resilient, patient, and calm under pressure
    • Flexible to work 2 days on / 4 days off
    • Full UK driving licence (preferred)

    Desirable

    • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards)
    • Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
    • Experience supporting trauma, SEMH, or challenging behaviour

    Physical Intervention & De-escalation Training

Full, accredited training is provided — no prior qualification required. You will receive thorough training from day one, with ongoing refreshers. Our approach prioritises de-escalation, and you will always be supported.

    What We Offer

    • Starting salary of £31,000 per annum, rising with experience
    • Clear career progression opportunities
    • Full funding for Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
    • Funded physical intervention and de-escalation training
    • 2 days on / 4 days off shift pattern
    • Referral bonus programme
    • Pension scheme
    • Supportive, collaborative team environment
    • A real voice within the home

    Your Career at Springboard

This role is the start of a career path, not just a job. As we expand, there are opportunities to progress to Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, Deputy Manager, and beyond.

We invest in our people through funded qualifications, mentorship, and structured development. If you bring the right values and drive, we’ll support your journey.

    Safeguarding Commitment

    All appointments are subject to:

    • Enhanced DBS check
    • Two satisfactory references
    • Right to work in the UK

    Interview Process

    • Submit your CV
    • Initial screening call with the Registered Manager
    • Face-to-face interview
    • Conditional offer (subject to checks)

    How to Apply

If you're ready to start or grow your career in residential childcare and want to join a company that truly cares — we’d love to hear from you. Please submit your CV outlining your experience and suitability.
