How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Our client provides a highly respected, safety-critical service to the global marine and shipping industry, supporting cruise liners, ferries, superyachts and commercial vessels across the UK and internationally.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking a motivated and professional Lifting Equipment Engineer to join their specialist inspection and testing team. Based from Cornwall, this is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys travel, independence, technical challenges and working in unique environments around the world.

This role involves examining, testing and inspecting ships’ lifting plant and associated equipment to ensure full compliance with current legislation and industry standards. Engineers will travel extensively to ports throughout the UK and internationally, often spending periods working away from home aboard vessels.

Ex-Military candidates and Service Leavers are strongly encouraged to apply.

    What You’ll Be Doing

Carry out examination, inspection and testing of ships’ lifting plant and associated equipment
Ensure all inspections are completed in line with current legislation and safety standards
Produce accurate inspection reports and maintain records using the company management database
Work independently across ports, dockyards and onboard vessels
Travel extensively throughout the UK and internationally
Maintain exceptional attention to detail in safety-critical environments
Deliver a professional and customer-focused service at all times
Work safely and effectively in demanding marine environments
    What We’re Looking For

Previous experience within lifting equipment inspection, testing or engineering
Minimum 2+ years’ experience working with lifting equipment
L.E.E.A qualifications (or equivalent) highly desirable
    Strong mechanical and/or engineering background
Comfortable working independently and in remote environments
    Excellent organisational and IT skills
    Reliable, adaptable and self-motivated approach
    Full UK driving licence
Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively and stay away from home regularly
Ideally based within Cornwall or surrounding areas with reasonable access to an International Airport
    Why This Opportunity Stands Out
This is a rare opportunity to combine engineering expertise with worldwide travel, working aboard some of the most prestigious vessels operating across the globe. Few engineering careers offer this level of variety, independence and professional development.

Our client offers genuine long-term career prospects, specialist training and the opportunity to become part of a respected and growing organisation operating at the highest standards of safety and professionalism
