How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Every successful construction project starts long before the first machine arrives on site. It starts with accurate pricing, strong commercial awareness, and someone who understands the realities of civils and groundworks from the ground up.
    We’re working with a growing construction contractor in Lincoln that is looking to bring in an experienced Civils / Groundworks Estimator to support a strong pipeline of upcoming work across infrastructure, groundworks, and civil engineering projects throughout the UK.
    This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the challenge of tendering, analysing project costs, and being heavily involved in the early stages of major construction works.
    What You’ll Be Doing
    * Preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for civils and groundworks projects
    * Reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documentation in detail
    * Completing take-offs and measuring quantities
    * Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations
    * Identifying potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering options
    * Working closely with commercial and operational teams throughout the tender process
    * Supporting project handovers once contracts are secured
    * Managing multiple tenders while working to deadlines
    What We’re Looking For
    * Previous experience working as an Estimator within civils, groundworks, or construction
    * Strong knowledge of drainage, foundations, roads, infrastructure, and earthworks
    * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
    * Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
    * Good communication and organisational skills
    * Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office
    * Full UK Driving Licence
