Role Overview
As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates and tender submissions in line with company objectives. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are commercially viable and delivered efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating and Tendering:
* Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, including labour, materials, and equipment
* Ensure all tenders are completed and submitted within deadlines
* Analyse drawings, specifications, and project documentation
* Identify risks and opportunities within tenders and recommend strategies
* Carry out value engineering to optimise cost and profitability
* Source and manage subcontractor and supplier quotations
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
* Attend meetings, site visits, and pre-tender discussions as required
* Provide cost advice and support on project feasibility
Process Improvement:
* Develop and maintain effective estimating processes and systems
* Monitor market trends to ensure competitive pricing
* Review completed projects to improve future estimating accuracy
* Collaborate with internal teams to ensure best practices are followed
Compliance and Reporting:
* Ensure all estimates comply with company policies and industry regulations
* Produce reports on tender performance and pipeline activity
* Maintain accurate records of all estimates and submissions
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience in estimating within construction, engineering, or a related sector
* Strong knowledge of estimating tools (e.g., Excel or similar software)
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
* Strong communication and negotiation skills
* High attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines
* Strong organisational, problem-solving, and time management skills
