How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our Oil & Gas Operator client is currently recruiting for the position of Corporate Relations Adviser, based in their central Aberdeen offices.
     
    12-14 Month PAYE Contract
     
    38 days paid holidays
     
    3/2 Hybrid working
     
    We are seeking an experienced Upstream Oil & Gas Communications Specialist to support our Operator client in Aberdeen, with both external and internal comms.
     
    You will ideally have at least 5 years in a communications role, preferably in an Operator business.
     
    Responsibilities:
    External communications & media Relations

    Support external communications activity, including the coordination and planning of external events, and collaboration with media relations partners.
    Manage input from across the business to deliver timely, accurate, and consistent messaging, while building and maintaining strong relationships with trade, local, and national media. 
    Risk, opportunity & crisis management

    Proactively identify and assess reputational, project, and operational risks (including non-technical risks), as well as emerging opportunities. Ensure these are clearly understood, effectively mitigated or leveraged, and embedded into business planning processes.
    Contribute to organisational preparedness and response capability, providing communications support during emergency or incident situations as required 
    Internal communications & engagement

    Support the development and execution of company’s internal communications strategy, including shaping messaging for the CEO and Executive Committee. Translate complex business strategy, transformation, and change into clear, engaging, and actionable communications that drive understanding and engagement.
    Assist in establishing and evolving a high-performing internal communications function, including the development of standards, governance, and best-practice frameworks, while enabling flexibility for local and functional requirements.
    Deliver high-quality, brand-aligned content across internal channels. Continuously enhance communication platforms and approaches to maximise reach, engagement, and impact, ensuring strong alignment with external messaging. 
    Experience & Qualifications:

    Strong experience in corporate communications, with the ability to translate business strategy into compelling narratives. Excellent storytelling skills and confidence advising senior stakeholders.
    Proven ability to build and maintain trusted relationships across complex, matrix organisations, and to influence without formal authority.
    Experience using digital tools, data and (ideally) AI to enhance communication effectiveness, improve targeting and drive continuous improvement.
    Operates with agility and integrity in fast-paced environments. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes aligned with organisational culture and values.
    Understanding of UK government policy and the political landscape is an advantage.
    Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related discipline.
    Relevant experience within corporate relations, public affairs, communications, or stakeholder engagement, including within the oil and gas industry.
