How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Hales Group are recruiting for an experienced Lead CNC Machinist to join our client based in Lowestoft, Suffolk. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established and growing business, working within a busy and modern workshop environment.
      
    This permanent position offers full time hours on a rotating shift pattern, including early and late shifts. You will play a key role in supporting workshop operations during your shift, helping to guide and coordinate team activities while ensuring productivity and quality standards are maintained.
      
    Key Responsibilities

    Manufacture precision components using a range of CNC and manual machining methods
    Set and operate CNC milling and turning machines to produce high-quality parts
    Edit and adjust CNC programs based on technical drawings and specifications
    Carry out machine set-ups, tooling adjustments, and program prove-outs
    Support and guide team members on shift, promoting best practice and efficient working
    Assist in coordinating daily workshop activities to help meet production targets
    Provide hands-on support with problem-solving and technical queries within the team
    Complete basic assembly and inspection tasks where required
    Ensure all work meets required quality standards and specifications
    Follow company procedures, including quality and Health & Safety guidelines
    Support wider workshop and cross-functional activities as needed   
    Requirements

    Proven experience in CNC machining (milling, turning, or both)
    Experience working in a senior or team-supporting capacity within a workshop environment
    Strong ability to set, operate, and make adjustments to CNC machinery
    Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
    Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
    Strong problem-solving skills and ability to assist and guide others under pressure
    Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and support a team environment
    Flexible and reliable approach to work
    Full driving licence desirable
