How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electronics Engineer (NPI)
    Cambridge | 5 days on site
    Up to £55,000 + package

    A specialist engineering organisation developing complex electronic systems for high-reliability applications is establishing a dedicated NPI function within Engineering. This role bridges R&D and manufacturing, ensuring products are designed for scalable, repeatable production.

    You’ll take ownership of transitioning electronics products from prototype into production, working closely with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams.

    The focus is on ensuring PCB designs are manufacturable, testable, and optimised for efficient assembly, while embedding DFM, DFA, and DFT principles early in the design cycle. You’ll also support improvements to production test systems to increase throughput and improve coverage.

    Key skills & experience

    Solid understanding of DFM, DFA, and DFT
    Strong PCB design experience (e.g. Altium)
    Experience taking products from prototype to production
    Knowledge of PCB assembly and production test methods
    Experience producing technical documentation and working with change control systems
    Comfortable working across engineering and manufacturing teams
    Ability to ensure PCB designs are production-ready using DFMEA to identify risks early
    Experience improving manufacturability and production efficiency
    Experience working with PCB suppliers to align design with manufacturing capability
    Ability to define test strategies and support production test development
    Experience supporting NPI builds, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis
    Track record of improving test processes, automation, and build efficiency
    Experience contributing to engineering standards and manufacturing processesDesirable experience
    Microcontrollers, analogue, and power supply design
    USB or video standards
    Automation tools (C#, C++, LabVIEW)
    ISO9001 or regulated manufacturing environments
    Suited to: Hands-on, practical engineer with strong communication skills. Comfortable working between design and production, with a focus on improving processes and manufacturing outcomes.
