Senior Building Surveyor

A specialist Property & Construction Consultancy are now seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to join their Birmingham office due to a significant increase in workload. This building surveyor opportunity will see the successful building surveyor delivering a broad range of professional building surveying services across commercial and residential assets throughout the Midlands. The building surveyor will work on complex surveying instructions including FRAEW assessments, defect diagnosis, disrepair surveys and contract administration duties. This building surveyor role is suited to a rounded individual who enjoys varied technical surveying work rather than project-only instructions.

The successful Senior Building Surveyor will be joining a specialist consultancy with a strong reputation across Building Surveying, Fire Consultancy, Rights to Light and Property Consultancy services throughout the UK. The consultancy operates a director-led approach and works across a broad range of sectors including Commercial, Residential, Education and Mixed-Use properties.

This Senior Building Surveyor role offers exposure to a wide range of technical surveying instructions within a collaborative and experienced Birmingham team. The consultancy continues to grow across Building Surveying and Fire Safety services, creating strong long-term career opportunities.

The Role

As the Senior Building Surveyor, you will deliver a broad range of professional Building Surveying services across commercial and residential property portfolios.

The role will include:

* Undertaking FRAEW assessments and external wall inspections
* Carrying out defect diagnosis and technical investigations
* Delivering disrepair surveys and producing detailed reports
* Undertaking contract administration duties across refurbishment and repair works
* Preparing schedules of work and technical specifications
* Advising clients on maintenance, compliance and building defects
* Producing technical due diligence and condition reports
* Managing client relationships and providing clear technical advice
* Coordinating with internal consultants and external contractors
* Supporting junior surveyors within the Birmingham team
* Managing workload across multiple Building Surveying instructions

The Senior Building Surveyor?

You will be a technically strong and commercially aware individual with experience delivering professional Building Surveying services across a varied property portfolio.

The Senior Building Surveyor must have:

* A degree in Building Surveying or relevant property related discipline
* Experience undertaking FRAEW assessments, defect diagnosis and disrepair surveys
* Strong knowledge of contract administration and professional Building Surveying services
* Experience producing technical reports and specifications
* Ability to manage client relationships and deliver clear surveying advice
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Ability to manage workload independently and work within multidisciplinary teams
* Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to service delivery
* MRICS qualification preferred but not essential
