How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are supporting a well-established genomics and molecular diagnostics company in the search for a Medical Affairs Scientist to join their growing scientific and clinical team.

The company develops and supports diagnostic technologies used globally across areas including cancer genetics, cytogenetics, and rare disease testing.

This is a highly cross-functional opportunity sitting at the intersection of science, diagnostics, clinical studies, and external collaborations. The role would suit someone with a background in cytogenetics, FISH, molecular diagnostics, or clinical genomics who is looking to broaden their exposure beyond pure laboratory work.

    • Project coordination
    • Validation and quality activities

    Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinate and support analytical and clinical performance studies
    • Analyse and interpret diagnostic data across multiple methodologies
    • Draft protocols, study plans, reports, and technical documentation
    • Collaborate with external laboratories, clinicians, and scientific partners
    • Support validation and quality management activities
    • Contribute scientific input into product and technical materials
    • Support project delivery across internal and external stakeholders

    Background Sought

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in:

    • FISH
    • Cytogenetics
    • Karyotyping
    • Molecular diagnostics
    • Clinical genomics
    • Diagnostic laboratory workflows

    Suitable backgrounds may include:

    • NHS cytogenetics/genomics laboratories
    • Molecular diagnostics companies
    • Pathology/genomics environments
    • Clinical diagnostics or translational science settings

    Ideal Experience

    • Degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Science, or similar
    • Experience working in a regulated diagnostics or clinical laboratory environment
    • Strong scientific communication and organisational skills
    • Experience handling and interpreting clinical or diagnostic data
    • Comfortable working cross-functionally with scientific and external stakeholders

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to move into a broader industry-facing scientific role with exposure across diagnostics, clinical studies, scientific affairs, and project coordination.
