How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Registered Building Inspector (Domestic) - Class 2A to support the delivery of safe, compliant and high-quality building control services across our partner authorities.

In this role, you will take ownership of a portfolio of domestic projects, working independently to carry out plan checks, undertake site inspections and deliver proportionate enforcement actions where required. You will provide clear, practical and professional regulatory guidance to clients, contractors and colleagues, helping to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and standards.

You will also play an important role in maintaining high professional standards, responding to dangerous structures and contributing to the continuous improvement of the service. Alongside this, you will support the development of others by mentoring trainee inspectors, contribute to the Quality Management System and OSR compliance, and ensure accurate record-keeping and case management at all times. Building and maintaining positive relationships with partner organisations and internal team will be central to your success.

    About You

You will be registered with the BSR as a Class 2A RBI and have experience working in a building control surveying role, ideally within a local authority or registered building control approver environment. You will bring strong technical understanding of domestic construction, building regulations and professional codes of practice, along with the confidence to interpret legislation in a practical solutions-focused way.

With effective communication skills, you will be able to engage clearly and professionally with a range of stakeholders. You will be proficient in building control software, with the ability to manage your workload independently, accurately and with a high level of diligence
