How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Product Design Lead

    Dynamic working: 4 days per week on-site

    Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

    Copello is working with a highly respected engineering organisation within the defence sector to recruit a C2 Product Design Lead. This is a key leadership role, offering the opportunity to take ownership of a complex command and control (C2) product that sits at the core of advanced systems operating in dynamic environments.

    You will lead the design and development of hardware and software solutions across multiple programmes, helping to deliver innovative, high-performance capabilities that meet evolving customer requirements. With strong growth and increasing demand across international markets, this role offers the chance to influence product direction while working across the full development lifecycle.

    Responsibilities :

    * Leading a small team delivering new equipment software designs

    * Supporting development of new hardware build standards

    * Engaging with wider project stakeholders within the design process

    * Meeting project schedules by reporting accurate progress and predicting completion dates

    * Management of change management processes and point of embodiment of new designs

    What we're looking for from you:

    * An understanding of the software development lifecycle

    * Experience in developing software design definition baselines from requirements to products ready for testing

    * Ability to lead small teams to achieve planned outcomes

    * Ability to work effectively within cross functional teams

    * Ability to analyse requirements and functional interface definitions, to generate detailed functional design documentation to articulate design need

    * Excellent technical problem-solving skills in order to lead investigation and resolution of design issues

    * Passion for understanding a variety of challenging customer needs and the ability to generate designs for product solutions

    * Proficiency in DOORS, Rhapsody or similar engineering or configuration management tools

    * Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience) preferably in a STEM field
