How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Temporary Works Design Engineer

    Location: London

    A leading construction-led engineering consultancy is seeking a skilled Temporary Works Design Engineer to join its growing London team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer with at least 4 years’ experience in temporary works design who is looking to work on technically challenging projects across the UK’s built environment and infrastructure sectors.

    Working as part of a highly respected engineering team, you will contribute to the delivery of innovative and buildable temporary works solutions on complex construction projects including basements, demolition, structural alterations, high-rise developments, and major infrastructure schemes.

    The business has built a strong reputation for integrating temporary and permanent works design to improve buildability, reduce programme durations, and deliver practical engineering solutions on site.

    Key Responsibilities

    Design and deliver temporary works solutions from concept through to detailed design
    Prepare calculations, drawings, reports, and technical specifications
    Liaise closely with contractors, clients, and project teams
    Attend site visits and provide engineering support during construction
    Deliver practical and buildable solutions aligned with construction sequencing and site constraints
    Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering exercises

    Requirements

    Minimum 4 years’ experience in temporary works or construction engineering
    Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering
    Strong understanding of BS 5975 and temporary works procedures
    Experience working on complex construction or infrastructure projects
    Proficient with structural analysis software and engineering design tools
    Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
    Progressing toward Chartership (ICE or IStructE) would be advantageous
