How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you an experienced Electrical Network Designer ready to take the lead on complex, high‑impact projects? Do you want to join a forward‑thinking Independent Distribution Network Operator (IDNO) that's reshaping how new connections are delivered across the UK? If you thrive in a role where technical expertise meets real‑world impact, this could be your next step.

    About the Role

As a Senior Electrical Network Designer, you'll play a pivotal role in designing safe, efficient and compliant electrical distribution networks from 11kV up to 132kV. You'll take ownership of the full design lifecycle - supporting feasibility, producing detailed designs, and ensuring seamless handover into construction.

You'll work closely with internal teams, ICPs, developers and external stakeholders, providing expert guidance and ensuring designs meet regulatory, commercial and operational requirements. This is a role where your decisions genuinely shape outcomes.

    What You'll Be Doing

Leading the design of new electrical distribution networks (LV to 132kV) in line with industry standards and IDNO requirements

Producing high‑quality technical documentation including load flow studies, protection settings, schematics and layout drawings

Reviewing and approving designs produced by internal and external designers

Supporting feasibility assessments, budget estimates and technical proposals

Ensuring compliance with ENA standards, G81, ESQCR and relevant legislation

Collaborating with project managers, engineers and external partners to ensure smooth project delivery

Providing mentorship and technical support to junior designers

Contributing to continuous improvement of design processes and standards

    What You'll Bring

Proven experience in electrical network design within DNO/IDNO/ICP environments

Strong understanding of distribution network standards, protection principles and system planning

Proficiency with design and modelling tools (e.g., IPSA, DINIS, ETAP or similar)

Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and regulatory frameworks

Excellent communication skills and confidence working with customers and stakeholders

A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset and a passion for delivering high‑quality work

    Why Apply?

You'll be part of a growing organisation that values innovation, collaboration and technical excellence. Expect a supportive environment where your expertise is recognised, your ideas are welcomed, and your career can genuinely progress.

    Competitive salary and benefits package

    Hybrid working options

Opportunities for professional development and chartership support

A culture that empowers you to make meaningful decisions

    Ready to take the lead?

If you're looking for a role where your technical ability truly makes a difference, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and help shape the future of the UK's electrical networks
