How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you an Electrician with strong wiring and containment experience looking for your next contract role on the Isle of Wight Do you have the ability to work independently and confidently manage residential communal area projects

    Workshop Recruitment is looking for an experienced Electrician to support a well-established contractor on a 4–5 week contract across residential communal areas on the Isle of Wight. This Electrician role will involve a variety of electrical works, with a strong focus on wiring and containment installations in residential , mainly communal areas.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a reliable Electrician seeking a short-term contract with competitive day rates and travel support for Portsmouth-based candidates.  Must live in the Portsmouth area, or on the Isle of Wight.

    Responsibilities

    Carry out wiring and containment installations in residential communal areas
    Complete general electrical installation and maintenance work
    Install and terminate electrical systems safely and efficiently
    Read and work from electrical drawings and specifications
    Conduct testing and inspection where required
    Ensure all work is completed to current regulations and standards
    Maintain a safe and tidy working environment
    Work independently and manage daily tasks effectively

    Skills & Experience Required

    Proven experience as an Electrician within residential or commercial environments
    Strong wiring and containment experience
    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    Good understanding of electrical regulations and safety standards
    Reliable, organised, and self-motivated approach
    Strong problem-solving skills
    Excellent attention to detail
    Full UK driving licence preferred

    Qualifications Required

    18th Edition Wiring Regulations
    City & Guilds 2391 Testing & Inspection
    NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation
    AM2
