How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Experienced Design Engineer sought for a specialist Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of pedestrian operated electric tugs and utility vehicles designed to manoeuvre industrial loads. Our client combines their specialist knowledge and experience with manufacturing ability to provide customers with a completed solution. Over 80% of their production is exported to Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand.

    Design Engineer Role:

    * Create innovative 3D design concepts, GA & Manufacturing drawings in response to application data gathered from the customer.

    * Ensure design meets manufacturing, technical, cost and customer requirements whilst keeping safety and quality at the forefront of every decision.

    * Active participation in design reviews and technical discussions.

    * Identification of suitable suppliers for required parts and components.

    * Production of design calculations and reports, bill of materials, operations and maintenance manuals, test documents, risk assessments and other documents as necessary.

    * Ability to prioritise and manage multiple workflows according to project budget and timescale.

    * Inspection of ordered goods upon delivery, as required, to ensure conformity to purchase order and other specific requirements.

    * Practical and hands-on shopfloor build as required - overseeing manufacture, assembly and testing activities.

    Design Engineer Requirements:

    * Engineering Degree Qualification or HND.

    * Fully proficient (min. 3 years) with CAD, SolidEdge beneficial.

    * Creation and ongoing maintenance of BOMs.

    * Previous experience / strong personal interest in DC electric motors, motor controllers and wiring would be a significant advantage.

    * Fully proficient with MS Office.

    * Proven ability to communicate Engineering proposals and concepts to customers.

    * Experience with FEA preferred, but not essential.

    * Excellent problem-solving skills with a genuine ‘can-do’ and innovative attitude.

    * Any foreign language skills would be an advantage. Fluent English essential.

    * A good timekeeping and attendance record.

    Design Engineer Benefits:
