How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A well-established and expanding building consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Fire Engineer to support the continued growth of their specialist Fire Engineering division. This opportunity would suit a technically strong Senior Fire Engineer seeking greater project ownership, client exposure and long-term progression within a collaborative environment.

    The successful Senior Fire Engineer will lead medium-sized schemes while supporting the delivery of large and complex projects across residential, commercial, education and mixed-use developments. The role offers a strong balance of technical delivery, mentoring responsibilities and client management.

    The Senior Fire Engineer's Role

    The appointed Senior Fire Engineer will be responsible for managing projects through all stages, ensuring fire strategies and technical solutions are delivered to a high standard. Duties will include:

    Preparing fire strategy reports and technical design documentation
    Leading client and design team meetings both remotely and in person
    Managing several live projects simultaneously from inception to completion
    Supporting business development activity and assisting with fee proposals
    Building and maintaining strong client relationships
    Reviewing technical reports produced by junior team members
    Mentoring Graduate and Intermediate Engineers within the team
    Assisting with quality assurance processes and internal technical standards
    Supporting research initiatives and contributing to innovation within the business
    Working towards further professional accreditation and specialist expertise

    The Senior Fire Engineer

    To be considered for this Senior Fire Engineer position, applicants should ideally possess:

    A degree in Engineering, Fire Engineering or a related technical discipline
    Minimum 4 years' consultancy experience within Fire Engineering
    Strong technical understanding of UK Building Regulations and fire strategy design
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
    Experience managing projects independently
    A proactive and commercially aware approach
    Ambition to progress into leadership responsibilities over time
