How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: English Teacher

    Location: Ealing

    Start Date: 1 September 2026

    Salary: £40,317 to £52,300

    Contract: Permanent

Are you an experienced English Teacher seeking a permanent contract from September 2026 in well-run secondary school?

Do you set high expectations for your students, supporting them to meet their full potential across English Language and Literature?

Are you a confident practitioner with a warm, yet firm, classroom presence?

At TeacherActive, we understand the impact high quality teaching has on student outcomes. This is why we have a dedicated permanent recruitment branch, established to match qualified teachers with the right schools, helping them take the next step in their teaching careers.

We are now seeking a qualified English Teacher to join a community focused school in Ealing in September. This secondary school sets high expectations for both staff and students, promoting academic excellence across all subjects and maintaining good behaviour. Further to this, the English department leads on school-wide literacy and communication initiatives, supporting their students to successfully engage with the world around them and succeed in whatever post-secondary pathway they take.

The successful applicant will teach across the full English curriculum from Year 7 through Year 13. The school uses the AQA exam board for GCSE and A level, therefore curriculum knowledge in these areas would be beneficial. Extracurricular activities are highly encouraged at this school, allowing staff and students to build a positive school community outside of lessons as well.

To be considered for this role, you will:

Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and confident classroom presence
Be a qualified teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
Have a degree in English or a closely related subject
Foster positive relationships with your students, setting and maintaining high expectations of academic progress and behaviour
    Demonstrate high standards of professionalism
Communicate clearly and confidently, verbally and in writing
    Hold UK Right to Work
By engaging with TeacherActive for your next permanent role, you will gain:

A dedicated permanent recruitment consultant offering individualised, expert support
Access to all permanent teaching staff benefits provided by the hiring school, including the Teacher Pension Scheme
Access to a range of schools and roles across our national school network
Continuous professional development through our free online portal, , with new videos added each week
Access to our referral scheme which allows you to earn a £100 bonus for each successful referral, in line with our terms and conditions
The security of partnering with a well-established education company with a proven record of service since 2004
