How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Site Engineer – Wakefield

    Role Overview

    We are seeking an experienced and motivated Site Engineer to support the successful delivery of a wide range of civil engineering projects across Yorkshire and North Derbyshire. The role will involve carrying out core engineering duties while also taking on elements of site supervision and supporting the wider delivery team.

    Working across multiple project types, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality and technical compliance. This position requires a proactive individual with strong communication skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with site teams, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities

    Carry out accurate setting out for construction activities in accordance with approved drawings and specifications.
    Establish and maintain site control points and ensure all surveying and setting-out activities are completed to the required accuracy.
    Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical information, identifying any discrepancies or issues for resolution.
    Produce and maintain records of setting-out activities and as-built information.
    Manage and monitor quality assurance processes on site to ensure works are completed in line with project specifications and industry standards.
    Complete and maintain quality documentation, including inspection records, check sheets, test results, and as-built information.
    Support the implementation and adherence to Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).
    Assist the Site Manager and project team with the day-to-day management and coordination of site activities.
    Support the planning and sequencing of works to ensure programme targets and key milestones are achieved.
    Monitor progress on site and provide updates on completed activities and potential risks.
    Contribute to site meetings and communicate progress and technical matters effectively.
    Support the management of subcontractor packages and ensure works are carried out in accordance with agreed scope, programme, and quality expectations.
    Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure materials, plant, and labour are available when required.
    Monitor subcontractor performance and provide support to ensure efficient project delivery.
    Support design management and technical review processes.
    Raise technical queries where required and assist in resolving design or construction issues.
    Contribute to project investigations and design development activities.
    Provide technical input into construction methodologies and buildability reviews.
    Ensure all works are completed in accordance with safe systems of work, risk assessments, and method statements.
    Assist with site inspections and ensure compliance with company and client safety standards.
    Take ownership of specific work areas and support site supervision activities where required.
    Provide direction and support to operatives and subcontractors.
    Assist with mentoring junior engineers and support their ongoing development.
    About You

    Essential

    Previous experience as a Site Engineer within civil engineering projects.
    Strong understanding of setting-out techniques and engineering controls.
    Experience managing quality assurance processes and documentation.
    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
    Good communication and organisational skills.
    Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team.
    Full UK Driving Licence.
    Desirable

    HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
    CSCS card.
    SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
    Experience across infrastructure, highways, drainage, structures, or general civil engineering projects.
    Experience with survey equipment and digital engineering tools.
