How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client is a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering high-profile residential and mixed-use developments across the UK. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work in Manchester, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join their regional team.

    The Role

    Reporting into the Regional HSE Manager, the Senior Health & Safety Advisor will be responsible for supporting multiple large-scale construction projects across Manchester, ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and compliance are maintained at all times.

    The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams, subcontractors, and senior management to promote a positive safety culture across all sites.

    Key Responsibilities

    -Provide proactive Health & Safety support across live residential and mixed-use construction projects

    -Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety reviews

    -Ensure compliance with current HSE legislation and company procedures

    -Assist project teams with risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work

    -Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, producing detailed reports and recommendations

    -Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training where required

    -Build strong relationships with site teams and subcontractors to drive a positive safety culture

    -Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance standards

    -Support senior management with continuous improvement initiatives

    -Maintain accurate records and reporting documentation

    Requirements

    -Previous experience working for a Main Contractor within the residential construction sector is essential

    -Experience on large-scale residential and/or mixed-use developments

    -Strong working knowledge of current UK Health & Safety legislation

    -NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification

    -Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

    -Strong organisational and reporting skills

    -Full UK driving licence
