Teach Now is recruiting a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a warm and nurturing Church of England primary school in Barnet.
This close-knit primary school is known for its caring ethos, strong pastoral support, and high academic expectations. The school provides a welcoming environment where children are encouraged to grow in confidence, independence, and achievement.
The Role
You will work closely with a child in Year 3 with learning disabilities, providing consistent academic and emotional support throughout the school day. The role will involve helping the pupil access learning across the curriculum, with a particular focus on English and Maths.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support
• Adapting learning tasks to meet individual needs
• Supporting reading, writing, phonics, and numeracy development
• Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive routines
• Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
• Monitoring progress and contributing to observations and feedback
• Promoting a calm, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
• Has experience supporting children with SEN or learning disabilities
• Has strong English and Maths skills
• Is patient, proactive, and emotionally resilient
• Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
• Understands safeguarding and professional boundaries
• Is supportive of a values-led and inclusive school environment

Salary dependent on experience and qualifications, with higher rates available for candidates with relevant experience or qualifications, pay in line with school expectations and AWR where applicable.
