How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Footwear Technologist
    Location: Kettering, UK
    Salary: Up to £33,000
    Hours: 37.5 hours per week – day shift

    About the Role
    A leading technical services organisation is looking to recruit a Footwear Technologist to support its growing customer base. This role involves testing products to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, delivering technical guidance, and representing the business through customer engagement and presentations.

    Key Responsibilities
    Review test results and discuss findings with clients
    Prepare technical reports and respond to customer enquiries
    Deliver presentations, seminars and webinars
    Ensure compliance with quality systems and health & safety standards
    Support the development and training of junior technical staff
    Deliver internal and external training programmes
    Contribute to technical articles and industry publications
    Participate in client visits and promote services

    About You
    Essential:
    Good understanding of physical testing methods
    Strong organisational and planning skills
    Experience in a customer-facing role
    Confident presenting to groups
    Excellent time management skills
    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    Able to work both independently and collaboratively
    High level of motivation and initiative
    Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
    Willingness to travel as required

    Desirable:
    Relevant technical qualification (e.g. science or maths degree)
    Experience within the footwear or related industry
    Exposure to sales, marketing, or business development activities
    Professional training/qualification in relevant technical disciplines (or working towards)
    Full UK driving licence
