We are looking for a driven, compassionate, and highly motivated Registered Manager to lead a 3 / 4 bed Children’s Residential Home in Walsall (WS4), supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is an incredible opportunity for an ambitious Deputy Manager ready to step up, or an experienced Registered Manager looking for a new challenge within a supportive and forward-thinking provider.
This role is about far more than compliance. It is about building a safe, nurturing, stable, and aspirational home where young people can heal, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the culture of the home, leading a dedicated team, and ensuring children receive the highest standard of care possible.
The Role As the Registered Manager, you will have full operational responsibility for the home, ensuring that all care and support is delivered in line with:

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong people management skills, excellent safeguarding knowledge, emotional intelligence, resilience, and the ability to inspire a team to consistently deliver outstanding care.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Management
Manage the day-to-day running of the home
Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing residential team
Promote a positive, child-centred culture throughout the service
Ensure staffing levels are safely maintained in line with rota requirements
Conduct supervisions, appraisals, team meetings, and performance management
Support staff development through coaching, mentoring, and training
Build a strong and stable team culture focused on consistency and positive outcomesSafeguarding & Child Protection
Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all young people is always prioritised
Manage safeguarding concerns effectively and in line with local authority procedures
Promote trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches to care
Develop effective risk management strategies and behaviour support plans
Ensure all incidents are appropriately recorded, investigated, and reviewedOfsted & Compliance
Maintain full compliance with Ofsted regulations and Quality Standards
Lead the home towards achieving and maintaining a “Good” or “Outstanding” Ofsted rating
Ensure all policies, procedures, and documentation remain fully compliant
Oversee audits, monitoring systems, and quality assurance processes
Complete Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 requirements effectivelyCare Planning & Young People Outcomes
Ensure high-quality care planning and placement planning
Work closely with local authorities, social workers, education providers, and external professionals
Promote positive outcomes in education, independence, emotional wellbeing, and social development
Advocate for young people and ensure their voices are heard in all aspects of care
Encourage young people to engage in activities, routines, and life opportunitiesOperational Management
Manage budgets effectively and responsibly
Ensure the home remains a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment
Participate in on-call duties as required
Support referrals, matching considerations, and placement planningAbout You We are looking for a passionate and resilient leader who genuinely wants to make a difference in the lives of children and young people.
You will ideally have:
Previous experience working within Children’s Residential Care
Experience in a leadership role such as Registered Manager or Deputy Manager
Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and Quality Standards
Excellent safeguarding knowledge and practice
Experience supporting young people with EBD and complex behaviours
The ability to lead, inspire, and develop teams effectively
Excellent communication and organisational skills
A child-focused and therapeutic approach to careEssential Requirements
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete)
Experience within a children’s residential setting
Full UK Driving Licence
Enhanced DBS checkDesirable Experience
Experience opening or stabilising children’s homes
Experience improving Ofsted outcomes
Knowledge of therapeutic or trauma-informed care models
Experience supporting children with SEMH needs, trauma backgrounds, or challenging behaviours
