How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Unqualified Science Teacher - Northampton

    Location: Northampton
    Start Date: ASAP or September 2026
    Contract Type: Full-Time | Long-Term | Permanent Preferred (Fixed-Term or Long-Term Supply Considered)
    Daily Rate: £100-£160 (depending on experience and responsibilities)

    Are you an experienced classroom practitioner teaching Science without Qualified Teacher Status? Are you confident delivering engaging lessons and now looking for a long-term opportunity in a supportive secondary school, with the potential to move into a permanent role?

    Tradewind Recruitment is working with a well-regarded secondary school in Northampton seeking an Unqualified Science Teacher to join their team either ASAP or from September 2026. This is a full-time, long-term position, with a strong possibility of becoming permanent for the right candidate, although fixed-term and long-term supply arrangements will also be considered.

    This role is ideal for someone who already has experience leading classes, covering lessons, or teaching Science in some capacity, and is now looking to take the next step in a more structured and supportive school environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Delivering Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
    Planning and adapting lessons where required to meet student needs
    Supporting students in understanding key scientific concepts through clear explanation and practical work
    Managing classroom behaviour effectively and maintaining a positive learning environment
    Contributing to assessment, marking, and tracking student progress
    Working closely with qualified teachers and department staff to support curriculum delivery
    Participating in CPD, training, and wider school activitiesWe're looking for candidates who:

    Have previous experience teaching or covering Science lessons in a school setting
    Have strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or general Science
    Are confident managing a classroom independently
    Are passionate about education and supporting young people
    Are reliable, reflective, and keen to develop their practice further
    May hold a degree in a Science-related subject (desirable but not essential)
    Hold, or are willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update ServiceWhat you'll receive:
