How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Trainee Quantity Surveyor - Main Contractor
    Maidstone
    £27,000 - £32,000 + Car Allowance + Package
     
    Hill McGlynn is excited to be partnering with a well-established main contractor specialising in new build construction projects across the South East. Due to continued growth, our client is looking to recruit a motivated and ambitious Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based out of Maidstone.
     
    This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate or someone at the early stages of their commercial career to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced construction professionals on a range of high-quality new build projects.
     
    The Role
    As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial team in the day-to-day management of construction projects, gaining exposure to all aspects of quantity surveying and commercial management within a busy main contractor environment.
     
    You will receive ongoing training, mentoring, and career development opportunities to help progress your career within the construction industry.
     
    Key Responsibilities

    Assisting with cost management and commercial reporting
    Supporting the preparation of valuations and final accounts
    Assisting with subcontractor procurement and administration
    Monitoring project costs and variations
    Supporting senior commercial staff with project documentation and reporting
    Attending site meetings and liaising with project teams
    Maintaining accurate records and financial information Requirements

    MUST hold a relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related construction discipline
    Strong interest in pursuing a career within quantity surveying and construction
    Excellent numerical and analytical skills
    Good communication and organisational abilities
    Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office
    Eagerness to learn and develop within a fast-paced environment
    Full UK driving licence preferred What's on Offer
